Florence in November 2025: autumn atmosphere and unmissable events

Florence, events in November 2025

November in Florence is a month of transition, suspended between the last glimmers of autumn and the anticipation of the Christmas holidays. It is a time when the pace slows down, the days grow shorter, and the city is cloaked in warm tones, with leaves falling along tree-lined avenues and the golden reflections of the Arno at sunset. In this evocative setting, Florence is filled with events that reveal its most authentic soul: not only major exhibitions and cultural events, but also popular fairs, markets, and festivals that bring ancient traditions and artisan skills to the forefront. Visiting Florence at this time of year means enjoying a different, less crowded and more intimate experience, where every event becomes an opportunity to discover not only the city, but also the social fabric that animates it.

As the tourist crowds thin out and the streets of the city center fill up again with Florentine voices, November becomes the perfect month to discover the city at a leisurely pace. There are no summer crowds occupying the squares and museums, allowing you to appreciate the artistic and architectural treasures more intimately. It is also the time of year when local taverns and restaurants are enriched with typical seasonal dishes, such as ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, and roasted chestnuts, perfect for warming up after a walk.

The events taking place this month take visitors on a journey that combines the pleasure of cultural discovery with that of conviviality: international music festivals, exhibitions dedicated to wine and gastronomic excellence, traditional fairs, and markets steeped in history. Florence in November is therefore a city to be experienced slowly, savoring every experience calmly and allowing yourself to be surprised by its most authentic side.

6. Florentine Autumn is just around the corner with hundreds of events

Florence, autumn

From October 1 to November 30, 2025, the Autunno Fiorentino program will enliven neighborhoods with over 230 cultural initiatives, workshops, markets, community gatherings, and activities for all ages. This widespread program aims to bring art and culture outside the city center to less touristy areas, encouraging residents to participate and offering visitors authentic opportunities to discover the city with new eyes.

From the courtyards of San Frediano to the squares of Rifredi, passing through parish spaces and neighborhood libraries, each event is an invitation to feel part of the urban fabric. The experience is everyday, not monumental: if you choose to explore Autunno Fiorentino, you may come across poetry readings, photography tours, educational workshops, markets, or acoustic concerts in courtyards almost by chance. This is an opportunity to take an intimate look at Florence and the places that often remain invisible on tourist maps.

The powerful words of Massimo Zamboni's Anatomia del conflitto (Anatomy of Conflict) and the visions of Ascanio Celestini take to the stage at the Teatro Puccini, while the notes of the Orchestra della Toscana and Music Pool resonate with Mozart, Vivaldi, and other names from the international scene. The suburbs are transformed into stages thanks to projects such as Oltre le mura (Beyond the Walls) and Komorebi, which bring performances to schools, nursing homes, and even the Sollicciano prison. There is no shortage of civic engagement with Freedom 25, nor the magic of music spread throughout the neighborhoods with the Orchestra Toscana Classica and the Filharmonie, which intertwine tradition and innovation.

At this link, you can consult all the events by date and choose the one that suits you best.

Period and location: October 1 - November 30, 2025, various neighborhoods throughout Florence.

5. Visit the exhibition dedicated to Beato Angelico

Beato Angelico Exhibition, Florence, Palazzo Strozzi

Among the major cultural events enlivening Florence in November 2025, the exhibition dedicated to Beato Angelico, hosted at Palazzo Strozzi and the Museum of San Marco, stands out. It is an extraordinary opportunity to experience 15th-century religious art in a way that also speaks to the contemporary world: the paintings of the Dominican friar, with their bright colors, delicate lines, and spiritual power of the figures, are arranged in dialogue with the Renaissance spaces that house them. Walking through the rooms of Palazzo Strozzi and then moving on to the cells of the Museo di San Marco, where Angelico worked and left traces of his vision, means taking a journey that combines history, devotion, and visual beauty.

During the Florentine cultural festival, this exhibition stands out as one of the most significant events: it reminds visitors that, in addition to concerts, markets, and events throughout the neighborhoods, Florence preserves masterpieces in its heart that reveal the city's profound identity.

Date and location: until January 25, 2026, Palazzo Strozzi and Museo di San Marco, Florence

4. Native, rare, and lesser-known wines

4. Native, rare, and lesser-known wines

On November 12, 2025, Florence will host Autoctono si Nasce, an event organized by Go Wine dedicated to the authentic expression of Italian wine heritage. The event will be held in the halls of the Starhotels Michelangelo (Piazzale della Porta al Prato 2), from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (times are subject to change).

In these rooms, a “parterre of wineries” will meet directly with enthusiasts and operators, exhibiting rare and lesser-known native wines alongside some more famous labels, while a themed wine shop will offer coordinated tastings and educational moments.

The aim of the event is to promote the biodiversity of Italian vineyards, highlighting the history of different regions, forgotten grapes, projects by emerging wineries, and experiments related to native varieties. The choice of the Starhotels Michelangelo is no coincidence: its central location allows visitors to easily include it in their city itinerary, perhaps after a visit to the museums or an evening stroll. With this event, Go Wine relaunches its national tour “Autoctono si Nasce” (Native by Birth), which accompanies the discovery of local wine identities in other Italian cities.

If you enjoy tasting different varieties of wine, you're in the right place. Take advantage of this opportunity and find out more with the Chianti Tour.

Date and location: November 12, 2025, Starhotels Michelangelo, Piazzale della Porta al Prato 2, Florence

3. From November 21 to 23, ‘L'Eredita delle Donne’ returns

From November 21 to 23, 2025, Florence will host the eighth edition of the L'Eredità delle Donne (Women's Legacy) festival, directed by Serena Dandini, which this year will explore the theme of IF – Intelligenze Femminili (Female Intelligence). The guiding question is “What IF?”: how would the world change if it were shaped by female perspectives? The festival will take place live in Florence at institutional venues and cultural spaces, but will also be accessible online on the official website, allowing for a wider audience.

Among the guests already announced are Gaia Marcus, artificial intelligence expert and director of the Ada Lovelace Institute, who will discuss the ethical and social impacts of technology, and Chiara Rubagotti, a computational linguist known for helping Alexa speak Italian. Other names on the program include theologian Mpho Tutu van Furth, podcasters Valeria Parrella and Lisa Ginzburg, and writer Nicoletta Verna, with actress Matilda De Angelis participating in one of the events on the program.

The festival's program is divided into two main strands: the main stage, which hosts dialogues, interviews, readings, and panels, and the OFF program, which expands into city spaces (bookstores, cinemas, galleries, art studios) and invites citizens to propose independent initiatives—until the call for proposals closed on September 15, 2025.

The venues involved include the Niccolini Theater (main stage), the Auditorium of the Fondazione CR Firenze, and the Giunti Odeon bookstore as a “literary café” for book presentations.

L'Eredità delle Donne 2025 promises to be a powerful opportunity to reflect on innovation, gender, and public power, with women playing a leading role not only as voices of the festival, but as creative intelligence that can correct and guide social and technological processes.

Date and location: November 21–23, 2025, Florence (live and online).

2. Pinocchio as you've never seen him before: the immersive experience

One of the most fascinating events in November is the Inside Pinocchio exhibition. Thanks to 360° projections, digital installations, and innovative use of immersive technologies, the exhibition reconstructs Pinocchio's adventures and the atmosphere of 19th-century Tuscany. This is not just a simple exhibition, but an experience that engages young and old alike, blending literature, visual art, and popular culture. The setting inside the Cattedrale dell'Immagine, one of Florence's most evocative exhibition spaces, makes the event even more special. It is a perfect event for families and visitors curious to experience art in a new way.

1. Discover Gae Aulenti's vision at Palazzo Medici Riccardi

Palazzo Medici Riccardi, interior, Florence

In November, in Florence, you still have time in the first few days of the month to see the exhibition “La modernità può costruire altrimenti – Gae Aulenti e la Toscana” (Modernity can build differently – Gae Aulenti and Tuscany) at Palazzo Medici Riccardi, a unique opportunity to rediscover the link between one of Italy's most important architects and designers and the region. Curated with an approach that intertwines architecture, design, and visual arts, the exhibition highlights the projects that Gae Aulenti created or conceived in Tuscany, investigating how her vision of modernity dialogued with the history and tradition of the territory.

Through original drawings, photographs, models, and archival documents, visitors can follow a path that not only celebrates the artist's creativity but also invites reflection on the relationship between innovation and cultural landscape. An exhibition that restores Florence as a fertile place of encounter between memory and future, in the name of one of the most influential figures of the Italian 20th century.
