Part of the Salude&Trigu program, a project by the Sassari Chamber of Commerce that promotes the region through a calendar of events dedicated to culture, traditions, and local flavors, the festival tells the story of Sardinia through experiences that go far beyond the pleasure of a good glass of wine.

What makes the experience even more distinctive is its literary side, which has become one of the festival’s defining features through the Vermentino Wine & Literature Award, a prize celebrating works that explore wine, landscapes, and the identity of different territories through writing.

This combination is what makes the festival truly special: between tastings, author events, and book presentations, every glass opens the door to a different story, turning wine into a language that can be both read and tasted.

Talking about Benvenuto Vermentino means talking above all about Gallura, where Vermentino di Gallura DOCG finds its identity in a landscape shaped by vineyards, Mediterranean scrub, and small towns where wine culture remains part of everyday life.

Founded in 2015, Benvenuto Vermentino began by promoting Vermentino and the regions where it is produced, from Sardinia to Liguria, Tuscany, and Corsica. The real turning point came in 2017, with the first edition of the Vermentino Wine & Literature Award, bringing the festival into an increasingly broader cultural dimension.

The idea is simple yet original: wine becomes the starting point, while books tell the stories surrounding it. A bottle can hold the story of a family, a landscape, a craft, or a community, just as a page can bring those stories to life through words. This is where the festival’s distinctive connection between vite and “vita” — vine and life — takes shape.

Meanwhile, the festival has continued to grow. Last year, in 2025, it brought 103 labels and around 1,000 participants to the tasting event in central Olbia, along with more than 200 people attending the technical tastings. Numbers that tell the story of an event with a distinctive identity, speaking equally to wine lovers and book lovers.

In 2026, Benvenuto Vermentino will return to Olbia for another week in which wine also becomes a way to experience the city. The historic center transforms into a route dedicated to Vermentino, with local businesses, restaurants, and bars taking part, while wineries open their doors to visitors eager to discover where the wine is produced.

And on October 10, at the Archaeological Museum of Olbia, the final award ceremony will take place, followed by the announcement of the winner.
