Capri in a day: our tips

Visiting the island in just one day is certainly a challenge, but we’ve selected 7 stops with 7 must-see spots you absolutely shouldn't miss.
To explore Capri in a day, we recommend wearing hiking shoes and packing light—just the essentials in a small backpack—because you'll be walking a lot. On Capri, the best way to get around is on foot, so traveling light is key.
It’s essential to get an early start, around 7:00 or 7:30 AM, taking a ferry or hydrofoil from Naples’ Molo Beverello. The crossing takes at least 45 minutes, and there are often lines for tickets and boarding. Don’t miss the chance to get a discount if you have a Naples Pass, the tourist card that lets you visit attractions and use public transport in Naples all in one app.
Once you arrive at the port of Capri, in Marina Grande, head toward the funicular. Alternatively, once you reach the end of the dock, you’ll find a bus service on the right that will take you to the Piazzetta in just a few minutes.
Visit Capri with Naples PassFirst stop: La Piazzetta

Originally built by the Greeks within the island's defensive walls, the square is now known for the tables of some of Capri’s most iconic cafés. It’s at these brightly colored tables that you might spot celebrities and travelers from all over the world, enjoying a coffee or indulging in a slice of Torta Caprese, the island’s famous chocolate and almond cake.
Having a coffee in the Piazzetta is a small luxury: prices range from €5 to €7, but the experience is worth every cent. Sitting in this exclusive corner of the island, you’ll feel part of Capri’s glamorous history. Take the opportunity to snap a selfie for sharing with friends!
Continuing your Capri in a day tour, head down Via Vittorio Emanuele. After a short walk, you’ll reach the stunning Gardens of Augustus, where you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the Faraglioni and the famous Via Krupp, one of the most scenic paths on the island.
Second stop: Gardens of Augustus

Located in a very scenic and high place on the island of Capri, they constitute a botanical garden suspended over the indigo sea, which gathers many of the plant species present on the island.
A gem nestled between the sea and sky, it is one of the most enchanting places to discover on our one-day tour of Capri. The garden is impeccably maintained, offering a peaceful stroll among trees and flowers that bloom year-round, all while enjoying a 180° view of the isle.
You will fall in love with its tranquil atmosphere and you will be able to take many beautiful photos among fountains, benches covered with beautiful Caprese majolica, and carpets of flowers, because every corner is a picture that invites you to dream.
Third stop: Krupp Street

Built in the early 1900s by the industrialist Krupp, Via Krupp was designed to connect, more quickly, the center of Capri where he had his villa, with Marina Piccola.
This scenic road allowed Krupp to quickly overcome the 100 meters elevation gain and reach the underlying rocks for a refreshing swim.
What makes Via Krupp truly extraordinary is its narrow and winding path, a masterpiece of engineering, that winds along steep cliffs, offering spectacular views of the sea.
The Gardens of Augustus, located at the top, provide the perfect vantage point for taking breathtaking photos of this unique and sinuous road.
On the way back, you will find Via Tragara, which represents the next stop on our one-day Capri tour.
Fourth stop: Via Tragara

An ideal destination for those living a love story, Via Tragara is a long, wide street with flowering trees, a riot of glittering shop windows of the best international luxury brands and seafood restaurants.
The villas that adorn this street, with their manicured gardens and Capri architecture, are a reminder of the dolce vita and charm that has made Capri famous throughout the world.
Every step brings you closer to extraordinary views, like the one you can admire from the final belvedere of the street, which directly overlooks the Faraglioni, a true corner of paradise.
After immersing yourself in this dreamlike atmosphere, continue your tour of Capri in one day by going back towards the Piazzetta and walking along Via Camerelle, a street that will take you to the next destination: the wonderful Arco Naturale.
Fifth stop: Natural Arch

Walking the road that leads to the Natural Arch is an emotional journey. The air is rich with the scent of blooming oleanders lining the path, accompanied by the song of birds in the background.
At the beginning of the road from Matermania that leads there, you will see villas and houses with barrel roofs, typical of local architecture, on the right and left. But as you get closer to the Natural Arch, the road becomes narrower, almost like a path, filled with pine trees, juniper plants, licorice, and breathtaking scenery.
In fact, in this place, the blue of the sea blends with the sky, and the view opens up to the Gulf of Naples. And finally, here it stands out in all its beauty!
This extraordinary rock formation, eroded by wind, rain, and salt over millennia, forms a large natural arch made of limestone, about 18 meters high and 12 meters wide.Imposing yet also extremely captivating, it makes this place still wild, wonderful, and definitely unique.
Sixth stop: Cave of Matermania

The one-day tour of Capri continues with a visit to the Matermania Cave, one of the most mysterious and fascinating places on the island, a hidden corner that seems to tell stories from ancient times.
Few people know about it because it is not part of the usual tourist routes. You reach it via a little staircase on the right, just before reaching the Natural Arch, and like the arch, it is made of limestone.
The cave was known as early as the time of Emperor Augustus, as it was used as a nymphaeum and temple for performing rituals to appease the gods, especially to Mater Magna, the great mother, an ancient Roman goddess of the earth and nature, from which it is believed to have taken its name.
Seventh stop: Piazzetta delle Nocelle

After your walk to the Natural Arch, it’s a must to take the path on the left at the crossroads, where you’ll find the small chapel of the Madonnina of Matermania. This winding path, bordered by dry stone walls and cultivated land, will lead you to a stunning viewpoint: the Piazzetta delle Nocelle.
This spot is also not well-known by mass tourism; only the most informed visitors reach it. From here, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the cliffs below, Mount Tiberius, the ruins of Villa Jovis, the Natural Arch, and the Gulf of Naples.
Take a moment to memorize that view, that wonderful light, the sparkling sea on which you look out over the edge and breathe in deeply. What unforgettable moments you are experiencing!
Before returning, while going up the stairs in the Piazzetta delle Nocelle, you can also venture into the beautiful pine forest.
Other interesting facts about Capri

Our “Capri in a Day” tour ends here, but we couldn’t leave without sharing a few fun facts about the Blue Island.
Capri is not of volcanic origin and greets visitors arriving by sea with a stunning skyline. From the water, you can clearly spot Monte Tiberio, standing 300 meters tall, Monte Solaro at 500 meters, and the island’s iconic Faraglioni rocks, which rise between 60 and 110 meters high.
The island itself covers less than ten square kilometers and, when seen from above, is shaped like a boot. It is home to two small towns: Capri and Anacapri.
Capri is also accessible from Naples by private boats, many of which offer island tours by sea, a great way to discover its beautiful sea caves. Tour prices vary widely depending on the type of boat, the itinerary, and the departure point.
Finally, Capri is also famous for the blue lizard, a variety that lives only on the sea stacks, and for two local plants, the Blue of Capri and the Madeira Viera, which bloom in spring in shades of deep blue, contributing to the color of the island.
