Italy closed the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics with 17 medals: it is the second-best italian result ever after Lillehammer in 1994.

Yesterday the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics ended. The closing ceremony took place at the National Stadium "Bird's Nest" with the parade of all the participating nations. Italy paraded with colourful clothing and Francesca Lollobrigida as flag bearer.

Italy closed its expedition to China with 17 medals, two of which were gold. It is the second-best result ever in the history of this competition for Italy after the 1994 Winter Olympics.

The two gold medals, won by Italy in these winter games, have a great historical value. The first gold medal is by Arianna Fontana. The 31-year-old from Sondrio triumphs in the 500 meters and enters the history of blue sport by winning her tenth Olympic medal.
The second gold was won by the couple Stefania Costantini and Amos Mosaner in curling. First historic Italian triumph in this discipline in front of Norway.

There are 7 silver medals won by the Italian national team in Beijing. In addition to Francesca Lollobrigida, Italy has won silver in other disciplines. Fantastic is the second place of Sofia Goggia, who returned in record time from the injury, followed by Nadia Delago with third place. 

Federica Brignone confirms the podium of the female giant. After the bronze four years ago in South Korea, the Aosta Valley climbs on the second step of the podium. 

Federico Pellegrino is silver in the free cross-country skiing sprint. The 31-year-old Italian finished second behind the Norwegian Johannes Klaebo. Another silver medal is the Italian quartet, made up of Arianna Fontana, Martina Valcepina, Pietro Sighel and Andrea Cassinelli, who finished second in the mixed short track relay.

Two other silver medals are Omar Visintin and Michela Moioli in the mixed doubles snowboard, speciality making their debut at the Winter Games.

Dorothea Wierer captured a historic bronze medal in the 7.5km biathlon sprint. She is the first Italian athlete to win a medal in this speciality on an individual level.

The 32-year-old from Brunico is the third athlete to have achieved success in all seven biathlon competition formats, effectively entering the history of this discipline.
