10. The Lens of Time: The Excellence of Italian Eyewear at Palazzo Flangini

The original and unpublished exhibition The Lens of Time – the History of Eyewear in Italy tells the story of eyewear through seven centuries of history. 12 narrative stages explore the exhibition path, exploring the evolution of this now indispensable accessory, starting from the first glasses in the 13th century up to the 1990s, when glasses became an iconic element of pop culture, fashion and cinema. On display are over 150 original pieces from the collections of the Eyewear Museum of Pieve di Cadore, from the Vascellari Family collection and from Arte del Vedere by Lucio Stramare.

The exhibition also offers visitors two immersive experiences: a virtual tour of the wonderful Eyewear Museum of Pieve di Cadore and the opportunity to wear the most iconic glasses of every era, obviously just for a virtual selfie, through the fun interactive Totem. The Lens of Time is an exhibition conceived and promoted by ANFAO - National Association of Optical Article Manufacturers, curated by the Fondazione Museo dell’Occhiale and in collaboration with the Fondazione di Venezia and the Fondazione M9 – Museo del ’900.

The exhibition has free admission and can be visited until July 30, 2025 at the majestic Palazzo Flangini in Venice, in the Cannaregio district (Calle Flangini 252), from Monday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 17:00.

9. The Feast of the Sensa

One of the most evocative events in Venetian folklore and tradition, the Festa della Sensa is celebrated on 1 June each year. On this special day, Venice remembers its thousand-year history and its close relationship with the sea. A procession of traditional boats, led by the Serenissima boat on which the mayor sits, departs from St Mark's Square and arrives at the Venice Lido. At the end of the procession, the mayor performs the symbolic ritual of throwing a ring into the sea.

This mystical marriage between Venice and the sea has been celebrated every year since the time of the doge and symbolises the blessing of the waters and Venice's dominion over the sea. This year, the Festa della Sensa will take place on Sunday 1 June.

The regattas will start in the morning at 8.45 am, while the Historical Procession will leave I Giardinetti di San Marco for San Nicolò del Lido at 10 am. There will also be side events on Saturday 31 May.

8. Free concert at Teatro La Fenice: June 2, 2025

On Monday 2 June, to celebrate the Italian Republic Day, the Teatro La Fenice Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Venice, will offer all its visitors a classical music concert, featuring the young winner of one of the most prestigious awards in the Italian music scene: the Venice Prize. Now in its nineteenth year, the initiative is open to all citizens and tourists in the city for the occasion. The pianist Gianluca Bergamasco will perform a solo for the public to celebrate June 2.

This promising and talented artist will perform Autumn Preludes by Gian Francesco Malipiero and The Seasons by Tchaikovsky. The concert will take place at 17:00 on Monday 2 June 2025 at the Teatro La Fenice Foundation in Venice. Tickets are free and can be booked from 10:00 on 26 May; each person can book a maximum of two tickets.

7. Architecture Biennale 2025: the commitment to sustainability

Among the 10 events and exhibitions not to be missed in June in Venice, a must is the 19th International Architecture Exhibition, dedicated this year to sustainability. Over 300 contributions and more than 750 experts in the various disciplines of knowledge will make Venice a dynamic laboratory. An important and committed exhibition where all the attention is directed towards a more sustainable model for design and therefore: eliminating waste, circulating materials by regenerating natural systems, adopting a transformative and sustainable design.

The goal is to demonstrate that Architecture and Environment can coexist in harmony with the planet.

Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective will take place from 10 May to 23 November 2025 at the Giardini della Biennale, at the Arsenale in Venice and will also be located in various locations around the city.

6. The Forms of the Classic: Robert Mapplethorpe on display at the Stanze della Fotografia

At the exhibition space: Le Stanze della Fotografia, on the fascinating island of San Giorgio Maggiore, on display Robert Mapplethorpe. The Forms of the Classic, a large exhibition that brings together 200 works by the artist, some of which are exhibited for the first time. It is the largest retrospective on the artist.

The itinerary opens with the collages and ready mades of the Sixties and continues with iconic portraits of international celebrities such as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote and Yoko Ono.

Robert Mapplethorpe - The Forms of the Classic is on display at Le Stanze della Fotografia (San Giorgio island) until 6 January 2026.

5. The exhibition Il seduttore at the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum

Il Seduttore - The renewal of the male image at the time of Casanova is an exhibition dedicated to the great writer Giacomo Casanova. In 2025 we celebrate the 300th anniversary of his birth and this exhibition at the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum is the first of many initiatives that will take place this year. Casanova is the icon of a world and a civilization, a figure who over the centuries has fascinated and seduced great artists who have borrowed his figure to invent characters, Giacomo Casanova is an extraordinary key to understanding the Venetian eighteenth century.

The exhibition highlights how in his time, clothing and aesthetics were the means to communicate one's social role.

The exhibition: The Seducer - The renewal of the male image in the time of Casanova extends across the rooms on the first noble floor of the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum (Calle del Tentor 1992), and can be visited until 27 July 2025, from 10:00 to 17:00.

4. Leonardo, Michelangelo and Giorgione on display at the Gallerie dell’Accademia

The exhibition Modern Bodies. The Construction of the Body in Renaissance Venice. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Dürer, Giorgione brings together extraordinary works of art from the most prestigious international and national museums and collections, such as, for example, Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, which is back on display to the public after six years. The exhibition is divided into 3 major chapters: the unveiled body – knowing; the naked body – desiring; the constructed body – representing oneself. The exhibition also aims to relate and create synergy between the exceptional pieces on loan and the permanent collection of the Gallerie dell’Accademia, enhancing the masterpieces present in the museum.

The exhibition Modern Bodies. The Construction of the Body in Renaissance Venice. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Dürer, Giorgione will be open until 27 July 2025, at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice. The Gallerie dell’Accademia are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00; while on Monday from 9:00 to 14:00.

3. Man Ray at Galleria Tommaso Calabro

At Galleria Tommaso Calabro in Campo San Polo 2177 an exhibition dedicated to one of the most visionary and innovative artists of the 20th century: Man Ray. During his artistic career Man Ray expressed himself through different artistic languages, the exhibition offers a vast overview of his production ranging from paintings, assemblages, photographs, gouaches to graphics, all works created between the 1920s and the 1970s.

Emmanuel Radnitzky known by all with his pseudonym Man Ray was one of the most important exponents of Surrealism and Dadaism and this exhibition is an attempt to pay homage to him.

The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00 to 19.00 and on Mondays by appointment; at Galleria Tommaso Calabro in Campo San Polo, it will remain on display until June 21, 2025.

2. 105 Summer Festival: live music concert at Parco San Giuliano

On Friday, June 13, 2025, Parco San Giuliano will host the 105 Summer Festival, an evening of live music with free admission. The most popular artists on the contemporary Italian music scene will take turns on stage, the location is very suggestive, a huge park, not far from the shore and under a starry sky to the rhythm of the greatest hits of the moment, there are those who ask for nothing more. The event is free, but by reservation until seats are sold out.

Parco San Giuliano is located not far from Marco Polo airport, at the beginning of Ponte della Libertà.

On June 21, 2025, starting at 6:00 pm, Venice will come alive, transformed by the magic of art. Art Night has reached its 14th edition and is one of the most anticipated nights in the city. Numerous cultural experiences, guided tours, shows, itineraries and exhibitions are planned.

Art Night Venice 2025 will come to life on Saturday, June 21, starting at 6:00 pm. The program will be revealed at the beginning of June, so get ready to celebrate the beginning of summer in the most special city in the world!
