10. Lazio: excursion to the Pontine Islands

Off the Gulf of Gaeta, you will find the Pontine Islands. They are divided into the northern and southern Pontine Islands. Only two islands, Ponza and Ventotene, are inhabited. The harbour of Ventotene was built in Roman times and is still a great historical testimony. On the island, you will find the ancient Roman residence Villa Giulia, which houses an interesting Archaeological Museum. Remember that the island is part of a protected marine area and is a true natural oasis. Ponza is characteristic of its picturesque streets and colourfully decorated houses. The sea surrounding them offers a breathtaking panorama thanks to its crystal-clear colour. Finally, Palmarola is considered the most beautiful island in the world for its morphology, nature, sea and.... relaxing atmosphere.
