Travelling is possible again

The desire to travel, to return to normal life is the feeling that has grown in everyone over the past year which has deprived humanity of these pleasures due to the covid 19 pandemic. A long lockdown that didn't allow people to visit museums or exhibitions even in their own cities, with cinemas and theatres still closed. For a year now, a virus has been forcing all populations to wear masks and to use hand sanitizers, to practice social distancing. Despite this, the desire for serenity, normality, culture and knowledge is ever stronger and, according to this desire to return to "normal" life, the museum of Città della Scienza decided to support the Covid-19 vaccine campaign with the initiative "I get vaccinated because ...".

The Campaign: I get vaccinated because...

The idea came about as City of Science has always been engaged in campaigns that promote healthy lifestyles and today there is only one remedy to return to normal life without any fear, anxiety, concerns about health and the economy: the vaccine. Unfortunately, however, there are still many citizens who are doubtful about the need to get vaccinated and the social initiative of Città della Scienza is addressed exactly to them. The project was conceived by the Director of the Foundation IDIS- Città della Scienza Luigi Amodio, Professor Alfredo Budillon of the IRCCS "Fondazione G. Pascale" under the supervision of the President of Città della Scienza Riccardo Villari found the support of many testimonials from the world of science, institutions, sports and art. In addition to the testimonials involved, however, all citizens will contribute by sending their own videos explaining why to get vaccinated, with the aim of convincing sceptics and, finally, of planning trips, guided tours, excursions and adventures to the sea, mountains or lakes.

Together we will be fine

The starting points are the trust in science as well as the sense of responsibility. Only with these certainties we can guarantee a way out from the tunnel of this virus, but the vaccination campaign must reach at least 70% of the population to be really effective. This is the only way to defend ourselves and those whose illnesses prevent them from being vaccinated. Therefore, getting vaccinated is also a message of love for our neighbor. Over the past year, we have tried to rediscover in our neighbor the strength to move forward and overcome the fear and anxiety that overwhelmed everyone especially in March during the first lockdown. Therefore, getting vaccinated is important to protect ourselves and the others, to defeat a virus that has claimed and continues to claim many victims. Furthermore, we must be aware that, even in the past vaccines were effective tools for curbing serious diseases such as polio or smallpox, the only weapon of defense to be able to affirm that "Everything will be fine."

Professor Andrea Ballabio -Director of Tigem (Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine) -, Gino Riveccio, actor and anchorman, Doctor Pina Tommasielli – General Practitioner-, Lello Esposito, painter and sculptor and many others joined this promotional campaign convinced that the vaccine is the solution to eradicate this dramatic pandemic which is threatening the whole of humanity.
